To Prevent Ink Stains in Dry Cleaning Check Your Pockets

The occasional localized Ink or lipstick stain that comes through the spotting department is, in most cases, no problem to handle. However, when a load is pulled from the tumbler or reclaimer and the complete load is stained with ink or lipstick because an ink pen or lipstick container was overlooked and left in a pocket of a garment, it is a completely different circumstance.

Well, this week I saw several (3) different plants that were struggling with the dreaded ink pen loads.  As we all know, this is a problem that is entirely preventable.  This is also a problem that can lead to expensive claims, upset customers, possible lost business, unnecessary labor costs, unnecessary energy usage for reruns, I could go on and on.

I know it is easier said than done and accidents do happen. But the bottom line is that you cannot stress enough to your employees, customer service reps, those tagging the clothes in, the cleaner/spotter and even the customers themselves, the need to check the pockets prior to cleaning or it will affect the bottom line.
